  • 1 31/2 ouncePackage vanilla instant pudding mix
  • 1 Cup whole milk
  • 1 Cup canola oil
  • 4 Large eggs
  • Milk syrup
  • 1 12 ounce Can evaporated milk
  • 1 14 ounce Can of sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 Cup heavy cream
  • 1 Teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 Tablespoon rum if desired
  • Non-dairy whipped topping We use Rich's on top, but 28 oz tubs of cool whip will also work

Directions to prepare 12 Steps
Heat oven to 350. Spray 9x13 pan generously with vegetable oil spray.
With an electric mixer, combine cake mix, custard mix, whole milk, oil, and eggs in a large bowl.
on low for 1 minute.
Stop the mixer, then scrape the bowl's sides.
Increase the mixer's speed to medium and beat for an additional 2 minutes, scraping the bowl's sides as necessary.
Pour batter into the prepared pan.
Golden brown will come after 32 to 34 minutes of baking.
Remove from oven and let cool in pan on a wire rack for two hours.
After the cake is cooled, poke holes all over the top of the cake with a fork. The more holes
the better.
Heavy cream, vanilla, evaporated and condensed kinds of milk, and rum should be whipped together.
Pour the milk syrup mixture over the cake's top, pausing each time to let the syrup sink in. 
Continue until all syrup has been used. It seems like too much, but it's not.
Chill cake for at least two hours while wrapped in plastic.
Top with whipped topping before serving.
